Rating of fixed and mobile internet speed in Poland

Before the weekend, SpeedTest.pl shared the results of the ranking of the quality and speed of fixed and mobile Internet for February 2021. For the first time, the T-Mobile operator is at the forefront of fiber optics.

Since the beginning of this year, SpeedTest.pl’s speed and quality rating of fixed and mobile Internet has brought two innovations. The first is to simplify the presentation of results by combining the general statement and WiFi for landline internet, and the second is to allocate a separate rating for FTTH fiber optic lines.

Prepared on the basis of the February rating 4.2 million including measurements 917 min. in mobile applications.

The rating is based on measurements for fixed and mobile operators as part of connections via a router or USB modem. Measurements were made in all SpeedTest.pl programs. The rating covers both consumer and business relations. The condition of being in the rating is that the number of tests of the operator should not be less than 0.5% of all tests in this category.. The sequence of operators is based on the data download speed (from the highest).

Fixed internet speed

Let’s start with the fixed line internet. So far, the top four operators include INEA, UPC, Toya and Vectra. In the February rankings, T-Mobile not only removed Vectra from the lead, but also left Toya behind.

1 INEA 153.37 146.06 10 121 min.
2 UPC 150.5 23.03 18 264 min.
3 T-Mobile Stationary 137.04 47.25 15 23 min
4 Toya 129.32 30.47 13 37 min
5 Vectra 125.75 30.53 20 211 min.
6 Multimedia 93.19 18.18 23 149 min.
7 Orange 91.56 33.58 23 549 min.
8 Netia 75.3 25.17 21 146 min.
9 Exatel 63.06 27.73 17 22 min
10 To play 22.53 9.93 34 212 min.
11 T-Mobile 21.6 10.01 32 228 min.
12 Orange Mobile 20.74 9.04 31 178 min.
13 in addition 14.8 8.99 42 273 min.

Traditionally, INEA has won here, thanks to the symmetrical Internet, it has not lagged behind in competition for several years, and this is due to the large number of tests.

It should be noted that the number of T-Mobile Stationary tests is small – 23,000, which means that the third place of T-Mobile with Vectra, which lost more than 200,000, or Orange with almost 0.5 million, does not look so surprising.

In addition, as I checked on the map of Poland, T-Mobile, divided by province, was only in the top ten by province. Mazowieckie (3rd place) and Świętokrzyskie (9th place), ie only these two regions worked for this result.

FTTH fiber internet speed

When it comes to fiber-optic internet measurements, only four operators have climbed to the top, and the rest have tested less than 10,000.

2 Netia 176.12 50.96 11 29 min
3 Orange 175.25 65.53 10 241 min.
4 T-Mobile Stationary 140.23 48.33 14 23 min

INEA also wins in this ranking, Netia (Plus) is in second place and Orange is in third place. T-Mobile optical fibers connect this rating with the average data rate of 140.23 Mb / s.

There is another option in the February ranking – national operators, whose measurements in at least half of the Polish provinces account for more than 0.5% of all tests. But there was only one operator – Orange.

Mobile internet speed

Mobile ranking is divided into two parts – Play with built-in roaming:

1 T-Mobile 42.37 9.64 thirty 47 min
2 Orange Mobile 37.02 9.82 29 60 min
3 To play 32.37 9.09 35 70 min
4 in addition 28.11 9.19 40 59 min

and without internal roaming:

2 Orange Mobile 37.02 9.82 29 60 min
3 To play 33.83 9.47 34 66 min
4 in addition 28.11 9.19 40 59 min

The excellent results of T-Mobile are noteworthy here, the same number of tests were conducted by all operators – T-Mobile initially exceeded 40 Mb / s. It should be noted that the measurements in the internal roaming of the Play have already been made in only 4,000. tests, total number – 70 min. measurements.

The fact that two mobile operators – Orange and T-Mobile, and even three – are at the forefront of Netia’s fiber-optic internet rankings is also a plus, in my opinion, a sign of the times. The advent of landline internet in the Big Four offer has led customers to choose their offerings. Since we already use the mobile offer, it is more profitable and convenient for him to choose landline internet. I think this trend will deepen and, who knows, will end with more purchases.

The most common capture of Vectra (along with Mulitimedia) by Play is the long-term cooperation of these operators in the joint offer of landline internet. Open question – what about UPC? This operator, like Vectra or Multimedia, offers FTTB optical fibers, which would run counter to the strategy chosen by Orange or T-Mobile, so it will avoid capturing cable TV, even if it is attractive to the customer base itself.
