Phishing plus malware

The growing scale of the threat is reflected in the 2021 phishing scandal that was blocked by the CERT Orange Polska team. In total, by 2021, CyberTarcza, which protects Orange mobile and landline network users from Internet threats, has stopped more than 335 million phishing scams involving others. with phishing login information for bank accounts or social profiles. It protected 4.5 million people in this way.

This is a leap increase, as the number of blocked incidents in 2020 was close to 40 million, and CyberTarcza protected 3.5 million users from data and money losses.

– So many people have not lost money, their devices have not been stolen by cybercriminals to spread their experience. This proves that we are becoming more and more effective, but on the other hand, unfortunately, it also reflects the scale of the phenomenon we face – says Piotr Jaworski.

Cybersecurity experts have also noticed that phishing has become more common in recent months with the installation of malware.

– After installing such software, the victim not only shares information, but also becomes a tool for the cybercriminal to continue his activities. For example, it can use them to infect other users, says a member of the Orange Polska board responsible for networking and technology.

– It should also be noted that the theft of an electronic identity is extremely important, because many criminals use the information of a company employee – his logins, passwords, tokens, etc. they steal. – and then imitates it, gaining access to the company’s resources. These are the events that will prevail in 2022, the expert said.

Cybersecurity thanks to AI and ML
