Cruel murder

The remains of 23-year-old Paulina were found by police on April 30, 2020, near the village of Piotrovo near Nowy Dwór Gdansk. The officers searched the dismembered body in the field for several days because the killer had hidden it in several places. In early March 2020, she left Warsaw and went to Nowy Dwór to see her ex-boyfriend. Then his footprint disappeared.

The day the woman disappeared, she received a text message from her mother: “We still have an apartment. I want some time for my life. Trying to live alone. I would be grateful for about two months. Without contact.”. The news alarmed the family, who reported the missing to police. Officials initially suspected Patrick D’s ex-girlfriend in the crime.

Maybe it was jealousy

In May 2020, Patryk D. pleaded guilty to murder and gave extensive explanations. He showed investigators where the girl was buried. DNA tests confirmed that the dismembered body was Paulina, who went missing in March. Patrick D. told investigators that the woman was planning to commit suicide and asked him to help her die. The prosecutor’s office did not find any evidence in this regard. According to him, it can be caused by jealousy. Patrick D. underwent forensic psychiatric examination. Experts concluded that he was sane when he committed the crime.

The prosecutor’s office demanded life imprisonment for the accused. Following Tuesday’s verdict, prosecutor Agnieszka Nickel-Rogowska said the prosecutor’s office would wait for a written justification for the verdict, after which a decision would be made on the appeal. – The prosecutor’s office requested a life sentence based on certain issues, the court’s view on this issue was different and we should get acquainted with it. Execution of punishment in the therapeutic system means that the punishment must be carried out in a prison where therapy can be carried out. I cannot convey what the accused said during the trial, because the case was not open to the public. I will not comment on this – said Nickel-Rogowska.

Patrick D. Marcin Kminkowski’s lawyer said that after the verdict he would apply for a written justification of the verdict, and then together with the client will make a decision on the appeal. He did not answer questions about the defendant’s conduct in connection with the secrecy of the trial.
